Most of them do not speak any English; however, we do have a translator. The past few weeks, we have been working on training methods with “people training” games. The men are picking up on everything extremely well and we will be brining 5 dogs in to them next week.

Overall, training is going well. We are still trying to master the basics at this point. I want all of our handlers confident in teaching the basic AKC Canine Good Citizen skills before moving on to more advanced skills. I believe in setting up everyone for success. As soon as we move to that level, we can begin advertising some of our dogs as “service dogs in training.” Basically, we will give our dogs a great foundation and when they are adopted by their veteran handler, they will continue training in areas such as public access.
